Brenda - Split Rock Ranch said… - We didn't get much snow but the wind was howling off and on since early yesterday so a lot of what fell is on its way to New Mexico. Hopefully we'll be able to get out tomorrow. Hubby has the day off tomorrow so we'll try to get to town to pick up essentials. I have an F-250 Crewcab 4WD pickup that does well in snow so we should be able to make it no problem. I have no idea what the wind chills were today. I know I went into Jim's office once this afternoon and the winds were at 17 mph and the temp was 25 degrees. I have been in long johns all day, along with a fleece vest over my two shirts. Fed alfalfa tonight and extra grains to the horses to help keep them warm through the night. My Quarter Horse was shivering like crazy this morning when I went out to feed her! I don't think she's ever had a blanket on so we're going to attempt to put one on her when this snow melts and we have safe footing - in case she freaks out, we don't want anybody to get hurt. I blanketed our 29 year old mare yesterday morning and won't take her blanket off until we get some sun.

I found the group - was looking in the wrong place - I think my brain is frozen. OMG it is so cold here today! We are under a Winter Storm Warning until 6 PM tonight. Snow is still coming down and the wind is howling. It would be beautiful if the snow was falling gently but blizzard conditions suck the beauty right out of the snow! And it is only the end of October. This is going to be a long winter. Arizona is looking better and better with every passing winter. If it weren't for the snakes, spiders and scorpions there, I would already be there. Thank goodness hubby and I both work from home so we don't have to get out in this stuff. I'm hoping it is better by tomorrow though because we need bread, Kleenix, etc.

- Oh, I don't mind talking about poo, its just that I got sidetracked onto something else... ;o) There's still plenty of poo here...somewhere...beneath the piles of SNOW everywhere!!! Yes, we're getting hammered. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just the snow but the wind is howling and it is very cold out there. My face was so cold after feeding the critters tonight, and now it feels like it is on fire so I suppose I got a good case of wind burn while I was out.
I think I joined the Newcomers Club but then when I went back to find it I couldn't locate it again. I've had some difficulties navigating the site - it is a bit different from the other sites I belong to but hopefully I can get better at finding my way around after I've visited more often.
